Conceived during a Corfu Sailing Club seminar in January 2013, Salty Bag designs and handcrafts handbags, totes and luggage that know, and weather, the elements.
Salty Bag is:
Each sail that comes in to our HQ goes through painstaking quality control. It is carefully washed in the most environmentally responsible way. Meticulously cut and traced by hand, it is lovingly upcycled into a Salty Bag the next step in its journey. Each and every Salty Bag is proudly designed and handcrafted on the island of Corfu in the Ionian Sea. Because luxury in the 21st century should be sustainable.
Salty Bag creatively reuses decommissioned sails, giving them a new life and new value. Even after reaching their end of service at sea, sails will retain their strong, long-lasting, weather resistant nature perfect for being upcycled into tough, elegant travel bags and accessories to cherish for years to come.
Craftsmanship, premium materials and investing in the time needed to create something unique: These three elements are masterfully combined into making a unique product. That is the essence of handcrafting. That is the essence of a Salty Bag.
Environmentally Responsible Production
We constantly improve both how we design and make our products. In a world of finite resources, that means preventing waste by making smarter use of existing materials. Reusing sails reduces our carbon footprint and creates environmental value. The sustainable reuse of resources is at the core of what we do. Designed using a modular system, each Salty Bag minimizes waste and can be upgraded into the latest design.
Salty Bags are reusable by design. You can return your Salty Bag at any time for reuse and get 30% off you new Salty Bag. We will repurpose your old Salty Bag into a new Salty Bag.
We will take care of Salty Bag bag throughout its lifetime. We clean and wash your Salty Bag for free whenever you want and will repair and refurbish small issues for free. We charge for major restorations to our bags that come from use.
Every Salty Bag is a unique piece, that means that no two Salty Bags will ever be alike. There are differences in texture, color, stitching and aging, depending on how hard and how often each sail was used. Salty Bags may come with stains, abrasions, scrapings, creases or marks. These form the traces of each Salty Bag’s unique story.
