Vangelis Pliarides studied at the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and received an MFA from the Royal College of Art in London. Since 2003 he is a Professor at the School of Visual and Applied Arts, School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He lives and works in Thessaloniki. His works are represented in private and public collections both in Greece and abroad. Some of the recent exhibitions he participated in: Solo shows at the Christine Park Gallery in New York in 2019 «Bandaged Shoulder» and in 2018 Travelling Watercolors 2007-2017». Group shows in 2019 «All ideas di quell metallo» curated by Peter Ungeheuer in Berlin, ZONA MACO” in Mexico City represented by Christine Park Gallery, «Stasis» 7th Biennial of Thessaloniki and «MOMUS» in Thessaloniki. In 2000-01, Vangelis Pliarides received a Fulbright scholarship in order to carry out an independent project/collaboration with art critics and curators in New York.
