Courrèges is shaking up the Parisian fashion scene

Courreges

There’s a wave of young creatives shaking up the Parisian fashion scene and among the rising talents are the 27-year-old creative directors of Courrèges—Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant!
At the helm of the brand since 2015, the legacy of the house is set to be transferred right into the present – if not even the future. After all, it has always been the unexplored and the futuristic that drove André Courrèges’ design approach since founding his namesake brand in 1961, after working closely with Christóbal Balenciaga for eleven years and first moving to Paris at the age of 25.
After just two seasons, the contemporary reinterpretation of Andre Courrèges’ signature 1960s aesthetic is already gaining critical acclaim!
The Courrèges’ young art directors, brought a refreshingly new touch to the brand’s AW17 collection. Instead of just going for the catwalk and a set up look book shoot, they simply invited their friends to take a series of portraits in the new designs. Instead of hiring a stylist, everyone was wearing their own clothes, combined with one piece from the collection, giving it all a personal and very characterful sense of style. The collection embodies Andre Courrèges’ modernity, intertwined with some 60’s style elements, such as high hemlines, mini dresses and bright colours. Architectual cuts, as well as patent jackets and pleated skirts combine youthful designs with a high sense of innovation.
