Melita Vangelatou
Melita Vangelatos was born and raised in Alexandria, and has lived in Greece, the United Kingdom, Japan, the United States, Guinea, and Morocco. She holds a Masters degree in Psychology and has also studied Photography and Art History.Her photography exhibitions and books center primarily on photographs taken during her travels.In June 2015, the Fokas Cosmetatos Foundation in Cephalonia, published, ‘Images and Interpretations’, a photography book, of Melita Vangelatos’s ‘esoteric’ photos of the botanical gardens of the island.Her latest work, ‘Regards Sur Une Ville Atlantique’, her view of Casablanca, was published in June 2016.Through ‘Casamemoire’, an association for the preservation of Casablanca’s heritage, she contributes photographs to publications and books on Casablanca, and to the association’s magazine, ‘Casamemoire Le Mag’. In her photos she tries to capture the rich cultural heritage of the city, to support Casamemoire’s endeavour to enlist Casablanca as a Unesco World Heritage City.
