Myrto Anastasopoulou

Bio

Myrto creates expressive pieces of jewelry, designs that celebrate freedom and fluidity. Born and raised in Greece, she spent her childhood soaking up its light, its wild sea landscapes and the spirit of its people. This sense of light and freedom is impressed within the fabric of her designs. She originally trained in theatre design and later specialized in art therapy. Both her fields of study, imprinted strongly in her the idea of the image as an allegory of the hero’s secret world. An arbitrary class in wax carving in 2009 introduced her to the art of jewelry making. In her debut collection, inspired by nature and hand carved entirely in wax, the pieces were sculptural explorations of shapes and forms that unraveled on the body. Cast in sterling silver, and finished to a high luster, the line was bold and expressive. Motivated by the enthusiasm with which her collection was received from press and stores alike, Myrto turned to her calling in Jewelry.

The birth of her daughter in 2017 moved her to make a leap and launch her first all 18k gold collection. Inspired by the intense beauty of colour and the extraordinary variety of subtle tourmaline hues, the line is an expressive and sensitive ode to colour. Colour combinations emit a radiant energy from wherein deep symbolic connections emerge. Laboured with love and delicate craftmanship, Myrto draws on the expression of the personal and the emotional, to conjure up miniscule worlds that are small embodiments of life, memory and perception.
